Ancient Rome

The colosseum was the first stop of the day. Our guide was an archeologist so had a ton of facts about this enormous structure and its functions throughout the past 2000 years. She then took us on a walk through the forum. This is the ancient city center with its markets and temples. The tomb of Caesar is here as well as the old senate. 

After lunch we headed to the Borghese gardens for a bike tour. It was fun to be out and active. Today was warm but there was plenty of breeze and shade in the gardens.
